A panel interview involves 3-6 interviewers asking questions simultaneously. Each panelist represents a different constituency. You need to connect with each one individually while maintaining a cohesive overall presence.
Ask for the names and roles of your panelists in advance. Research each person on LinkedIn. Understand their perspective and what they might care about. Prepare questions tailored to each person role and interests.
Make eye contact with everyone when answering. Start with the person who asked, then include others. Address answers to the most relevant panelist. If two ask at once, acknowledge both. Take notes on each person name and use them throughout.
Send individual thank you notes to each panelist within 24 hours. Reference something specific from your conversation. A personalized note to each shows attention to detail and respect for their time.
